Our 2024 Q3 High Yield Portfolio Dividend Payouts

Every quarter we create a breakdown the dividends and how many shares we accumulated for each stock we own. This helps us evaluate our portfolios and gives you a chance to see the results of what we teach.

Since we have a lot of data to process at the end of the year we offset our quarterly updates by a month. So our Q3 is for June, July, and August.

Let’s dig into the dividend data for our High Yield Portfolio. Keep in mind that the current total value of this portfolio is only about $97,000.

If you want informative tidbits as we go through the portfolio payouts, listen to Episode 67 (stocks) and 68 (ETFs) of our podcast.

Dividend Breakdown

We collected the following in dividends over different timeframes.

  • $1,563.52 for the month of August
  • $4,557.95 for the past quarter (averages out to $1,519.32 per month)
  • $9,539.41 so far in 2024

Our dividends earlier in the year were much less at around $1,100 a month. I’ve exchanged out different stocks over the past 4 months, so I fully expect our monthly dividends to be in the $1,500-$1,600 range going forward.

Our average yield (excluding YieldMax ETFs) in this portfolio is 16.82%.

Our Best Performers

Our top 3 best dividend payers are as follows:

HTGC – We collected $471 in dividends thus far in 2024, and this stock is up 22% for the year.

NVDY – We collected $687 in dividends thus far in 2024, and the stock is up 13% without dividends included (up 80% if you include dividends).

QRTEP – We collected $490 in dividends this far in 2024, and the stock is up 32% for the year.

Our Worst Performers

Our 3 worst dividend payers are as follows:

IEP – We collected $611 in dividends thus far in 2024, but the stock is down 12% for the year.

ULTY – We collected $484 in dividends thus far in 2024, but the stock is down 10%.

ABR – We collected $481 in dividends thus far in 2024, but the stock is down 6% for the year.

I should mention we also collected 36 shares of ABR, 37 shares of IEP, and 39 shares of ULTY with the DRIP on because their prices have been so low.

Valuation Check-In

Only 5 of our 33 holdings are overvalued currently. This means we should have a very good chance of serious capital appreciation to go along with huge yields in dividends the next 12-18 months.
