Time To Go Nuclear In The Portfolio

Our portfolio updates for the week ending on November 8, 2024 are as follows.

Limit Orders That Sold

CSWC is sold. We had to lower the limit price some to get rid of all of our holdings. I whiffed on the timing for this one but we still earned a 22% return. It would have been higher at 30% had we sold in September. Whoopsiedaisy

We also hit our limit order for TRIN. I don’t want to trim our position size too much all at once because this stock keeps running. As of right now, we’re up over 60%.

New Acquisition In Nuclear

With the proceeds of CSWC and TRIN we initiated a new position in NLR. Nuclear power and uranium are going to be huge going forward, so we need to have some exposure.

NLR is an ETF that’s trading below its historical NAV price discount. It holds 26 companies that give us exposure to the uranium and nuclear sector we’re looking for.

It has a low yield of under 4%, but that’s better than most stocks, funds, or ETFs in this area. We’ll also receive growth from anything it’s holding.

The only thing that sucks is that NLR pays an annual dividend. I’m not a fan of those, but this is the best way to gain exposure to nuclear that fits our dividend strategy.

Distributing USOY’s Cash Dividend

In our Van Life Portfolio, we got USOY’s dividend in cash. Most of it went into CIVI. We only got 3 shares this round, but it all adds up over time.

I firmly believe CIVI should be in the $65 range, so getting it for $50 is a steal and I’ll keep adding to the position when I get cash.

We used the rest of the proceeds to pick up 3 shares of NEP. It got clobbered after earnings, so it’s a bargain that I’ll keep picking up when I have cash.

Invested In A New Bond Fund

Even though I sold off PDI and DSU, bonds should continue to do well in the near future. Those 2 were overvalued so I was hunting for a CEF that deals in bonds.

I found PHT which yields 8.5% and is severely undervalued.

We initiated a position, but I want more, so I’ll be evenly adding to PHT and BulletShares for the foreseeable future with dividends from stocks that have the DRIP off.

That should be quick and painless because we have the DRIP off on a lot of stocks, many of which are high yielders.
