Experiment Results Are In: We’re Ditching The Dead Weight

Our portfolio updates for the week ending on April 4, 2025 are as follows.

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve really done anything in our portfolio. The markets have been volatile with investor uncertainty, so laid low waiting. DRIPs have been on for many stocks because of price drops and cash payouts have been funneled into THTA.

MAG7 Experiment: Done & Dusted

After 5 months, the MAG7 experiment in the retirement portfolio is officially over. I thought the dividend would be massive and another income generator. Instead I got a lot of measly $0.05-$0.09 dividends. Not worth it, so we exited with a modest $112 gain. But hey, a win is a win. YMAX performed significantly better, so MAG7 is out.

Rolling MAG7 Gains Into PEP

With those proceeds, we initiated a long-term position in PEP (PepsiCo)—a move we’d only make in a retirement account. There’s a lot to like about this stock.

  • ✅ 53 straight years of dividend increases
  • ✅ 4% yield at our entry price
  • ✅ Trading at 4-year lows—perfect buying territory

Strong fundamentals:

  • 11% profit margins
  • Projected 4%+ EPS growth (3-5 years)
  • 10% annual revenue growth since COVID
  • P/E of 21, forward P/E of 18 (vs. peers at 26.5)
  • 77% dividend payout ratio & 131% coverage

PEP is a beaten down stock that has good financials and is an awesome value. We will probably hold this one for a long long time at the price that we are getting it at. People are panic-selling, so we’re buying.

BTC Experiment: IBIT is Out

In the Vanning portfolio, we have sold IBIT. IBIT was not generating any income and was trading exactly the same as LFGY and YBTC (which both make weekly moola). We ended up down $200 which is not ideal, but we learned some info from this experiment. YBTC and LFGY are better than IBIT.

The proceeds from IBIT went straight into NVDY, LFGY, and YBTC.

TSLY & CRSH Experiment: Results Are In

After 6 months, we’re closing out TSLY and CRSH. The experiment was a success!

📌 TSLY:

  • Bought for $538.80, sold for $380.85
  • Collected $248.24 in cash dividends
  • Total profit: $90.29

📌 CRSH:

  • Bought for $534.40, sold for $386.80
  • Collected $114.89 in cash dividends
  • Total loss: -$32.91

Net result: +$57.38. Not a massive win, but it confirms the strategy, which was the whole point.

New Position: FIAT (YieldMax Coinbase Short)

With the TSLY/CRSH proceeds, we’re doubling down and opening a position in FIAT (CONY’s short counterpart). Call me crazy, but I’m going for it.

That’s a wrap for this horrible week. Remember not to panic. We’re in the same boat. Our portfolio value was down to $93,000 after market close yesterday from $110,000.
